Mazda Australia is celebrating its best ever start to a calendar year following another record sales month.
New February record - up 657 units (or 10.3 percent) on previous bestset in 2007
Best ever February share in passenger car segment (9.8 percent) – beats previous record set in 2007
8.2 percent market share year-to-date - 0.12 percentage points up year-on-year
Best ever February for Mazda2 with 1272 sales, 102 percent up on previous record set in 2007
New February record for BT-50 - up 37 percent year-on-year with 889 sales
Mazda finished a comfortable fourth on the sales tally and 1922 sales ahead of its closest full-line import rival

Mazda has reaffirmed its position as Australia’s top-selling importer, securing its 14th consecutive record month with 7022 new car sales last month. This is an increase of 10.3 percent on the company’s previous best of 6365 set in February last year.Strong sales across Mazda’s award-winning vehicle line-up gave the company an 8.2 percent share in the Australian new car sales market, year-to-date. This is an increase of 0.12 percentage points, year-on-year.
The benchmark February was bolstered by sales of Mazda’s Stylish, Insightful and Spirited passenger cars (5171). Mazda finished off the month with a new February record share in the passenger segment (9.8 percent). This beats the previous record of 9.4 percent set in February 2007.
A standout performer was Mazda’s baby car the stylish Mazda2 with 1272 sales. This is a stunning 102 percent up on its previous best record set in February last year.
Mazda3 remained strong in February with 2825 sales. Mazda3’s winning combination of safety, performance, economy and style once again made it the country’s second highest selling car in the sub $40,000 segment.
Records continued to tumble as Mazda’s diesel commercial utility, BT-50, recorded its best ever February with 889 sales. Sales of the BT-50 accounted for 5.7 per cent of the light commercial segment year-to-date, an increase of 37.4 per on February 2007.
Doug Dickson, managing director of Mazda Australia said: “Obviously we are delighted with our February performance, with more Australians than ever before choosing to buy one of our award-winning Stylish, Insightful and Spirited vehicles.
“We only launched the second generation Mazda6 half way through last month but the interest this car has already generated shows that we are on another winner.”
