MAZDA ON RECORD SALES PACE
1-FEBRUARY-2007
Mazda Australia has started 2007 at record sales
pace, retailing 6627 vehicles last month.
The January result was Mazda’s best ever in
Australia, passing its previous best month – 6111 sales
in February 2005 – by a significant 8.4 per cent or 516
vehicles. It was a hefty 23 per cent up on the same month
last year (5384 sales).
Not surprisingly other records tumbled last
month. Mazda’s most popular car, the Mazda3, achieved its
best result with 3347 sales.
The Mazda2, with 557 sales, and Mazda’s
commercial utility range (BT-50 and the superseded B
Series) with 719 retails, posted record January results.
Mazda6 with 1107 sales had its best month since July last
year.
Doug Dickson, managing director of Mazda
Australia, said: "Mazda has been the top-selling full
line importer for the past two years and this record
January result gets us off to a flying start this
year.
"Most pleasing is that our whole range showed
strong gains and the all-new
CX-7 crossover had a very successful first full
month with 540 sales. Its combination of outstanding
style, driving dynamics and spacious interior has shifted
the goal posts in the SUV market".
